The Probability Distribution of NSCAT Measurements
NSCAT makes only indirect measurements of wind. The direct measurement is of the backscattered radar power. The signal power is contaminated by radiometric noise so a separate measurement of the noise power is subtracted from the signal-plus-noise measurement to estimate the backscattered power. Using the radar equation, o is computed from the measured signal power. From multiple o measurements...
متن کاملA Virtual Instrument Oscilloscope for signal measurements
In this paper, we discuss about the LabVIEW based graphical applications for the measurements of signal. A virtual instrument is designed in order to serve the purpose of oscilloscope with a user friendly interface at the front panel. The designed oscilloscope is derived from a hardware instrument named Digital Phosphor Oscilloscope TDS 5104B.Firstly the original hardware device functions are e...
متن کاملA general filter for measurements with any probability distribution
The KulmanJilter is a very eficient optimal$ltel; however it has the precondition that the noises of the process and of the measurement are Gaussian. In this paper we introduce ‘The General Distribution Filter’ which is an optimal jilter that can be used even where the distributions are not Gaussian. An eficient practical implementation of theJilter is possible where the distributions are discr...
متن کاملShortest Path Problem with Gamma Probability Distribution Arc Length
We propose a dynamic program to find the shortest path in a network having gamma probability distributions as arc lengths. Two operators of sum and comparison need to be adapted for the proposed dynamic program. Convolution approach is used to sum two gamma probability distributions being employed in the dynamic program.
